Safe and Sober Driving
May 19, 2000
On Friday, May 19th, AADCO industries.com inc., York Regional Police, and Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID) teamed up to help alert Bayview Secondary School's students to the dangerous consequences of drinking driving. The three organizations worked together to create a dramatic crash scene in hopes of reducing the number of incidences of impaired driving on the Victoria Day weekend.
"We see many crashed cars and can't help but wonder if some of them could have been avoided," says AADCO Marketing Director James Fraser. "We are pleased to help OSAID promote safe and sober driving."
AADCO supplied a salvaged car that was placed on the school's front lawn to appear as though it had smashed into a tree. Constable Mark Altermann of the York Regional Police's C.O.R. Unit was present to lend a hand and answer questions about impaired driving.

The crash scene was a success, gaining the attention of both Bayview's staff and students. Many who saw it believed it to be real. The scene was one of several OSAID events during the school year. For more information about OSAID and its events send an email to osaid2000@hotmail.com
